A university of applied sciences
There are two types of universities in Dutch higher education: traditional research universities and universities of applied sciences.
As a university of applied sciences, THUAS focuses on training and career preparation and it’s working closely with professionals to make sure that programmes are cutting edge and relevant to industry.
Businesses and institutions help design our curricula, which means they are hands-on, solution orientated and reflect market conditions.
Most lecturers are working professionals, giving students a first hand insight into their field. During interactive sessions, they will ask questions, set assignments and encourage debate to hone analytical skills that are critical in business.

The Hague is located in a west of the Netherlands and bursting with culture, creativity and history.
The city is the seat of the Dutch government and royal family and known as the International City of Peace, Justice and Security. It’s home to 130+ international institutions, 80 justice organisations, 115 Embassies and many international companies so it should come as no surprise that English is the preferred language of communication.
The Hague is a very green city with 11km of coastline and an ideal base from which to explore the rest of the Netherlands with cities such as Amsterdam, Utrecht and Rotterdam only 30-45 minutes away by train.

- MMus Sonic Arts
If you like sound and its creation, the MMus Sonic arts programme takes this concept into a fully developed discipline. The master develops its knowledge of sound arts and sound technology to build a strong portfolio towards your ideal career. Offering not only a complete overview of sound but also hands-on, practical and skills-based core courses that can help students design and realise original sound projects throughout the programme and build a strong portfolio as a sound artist. Graduates in Sonic Arts will be able to find employment in creative industries, such as film and multimedia sectors, computer games and programming, broadcasting, theatre, education and other areas of the music, sound and entertainment business.
- Decommissioning MSc
First degree in the UK and in the world in decommissioning oil rigs, platforms, and offshore structures. This multi-discipline degree is designed to cover all the key aspects of the decommissioning process, including the engineering challenges, legal and environmental considerations and policies, economic, business and project management related challenges. It is aimed at recent graduates from a range of degree backgrounds but also very much aimed at those already working across the oil and gas industry.
Scholarships and Funding
The Hague University of Applied Sciences has various funding and scholarship arrangements in place for international students. Scholarships may be offered by the university itself, some by the Dutch Government, whilst others are country-specific scholarships or study loans, part of an agreement with funding bodies across Latin America.
